In September 2019, the European partners in DEEM visited Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos, collaborating with partners in the region to organize a training sessions at the University of Yangon, Institute of Technology of Cambodia and National University of Laos campuses. The program included sessions on futures thinking by prof. Sirkka Heinonen, critical thinking and reasoning by asst. prof. Omid Noroozi and sustainable energy futures by prof. Olav Hohmeyer.
On a break between training sessions, the participants were asked to write on a whiteboard words that described their “preferred future”, an idea that had just been introduced during a futures thinking workshop session. Also at the end of the training, the Myanmar workshop participants were asked what their main take-away from that the training session was.
